Right?! Despite John’s brilliant performance, I never quite bought that The Master would be so terrified of hearing that one thing The Doctor had to say on the Valiant. And even though I love that The Doctor and Master left it at “Get out of the way,” a scene like this would have given just a bit more closure and some more context to that earlier confrontation.

Ok, I’m shoving all of the vague Supernatural and Suits AU bunnies out of my head and going for a Doctor/Master AU that I’ve always wanted to see. In EoT part 2, Ten visits Verity Newman’s book-signing on his farewell tour. In my version, he’d go see Harold Saxon on doing a book-signing of Kiss Me, Kill Me instead.  The Master would know Ten was dying and, despite not being sure if that meant he’d won or lost, they’d go off to a quite cafe somewhere and have a conversation.  There’d be a lot of “you know I can’t tell you that”s and “stop being so maudlin“s thrown about, but at some point, Ten would say he’s sorry.  For everything. For a thousand years’ of everything. And it would be more than Tennish self-flaggelation. It would be an apology for The Master alone.  And The Master would get it and nod and say “this doesn’t change anything” and then, before leaving, say “I’m sorry, too.”

And then he’d go on to the Valiant and the Year that Never Was and the reason he was so hellbent on not hearing a word of what this earlier version of Ten had to say is because he knew that it would be a sanctimonious “I forgive you,” and that would be like moving backwards.

I have a lot of Ten/Simm!Master feels, ok?

G  - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it:

Well, I suppose Mulder/Scully from The X-Files would have been the first because I didn’t watch a lot of TV when I was younger (apart from Star Trek: TNG, where I didn’t actively ship anyone).  But I didn’t get into fandom until Harry Potter came along.  My OTP there was a love triangle featuring Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Severus Snape.  Good times.
